I’m a lover of many things, but brunch and beers are towards the top of my list. You can find a lot of both at Tap 42 in Fort Lauderdale. I’ve been there in the evening for dinner and drinks and loved their wide selection of craft beers (and tasty food), but where it really shines is on the weekends with their brunch special
Tap 42 Review
I visited here a few weeks back on a date. I live out in the suburbs but my date lived closer to downtown Fort Lauderdale so I came out to her area and we settled on Tap 42. I knew they had a big beer menu (huge plus for me!), nice indoor and outdoor seating, and it was a convenient place for her. We had to wait a few minutes for a table but enjoyed ourselves sitting at the bar outside in the front courtyard and enjoyed the nice evening.
I got their chicken wings while my date got a salad and we both enjoyed our meals. There were plenty of beers for me to choose from, I didn’t know where to start, and ended up trying out a couple varieties that I hadn’t had before. Always a positive, in my book. They also have a nice selection of bourbons, as their name comes from their rotation of 42 premium bourbons.
We had a high-top inside and it was a great setting. Nice views of all the televisions by the bar so we could watch the Olympics that were airing that night, yet despite how crowded it was we had no problem hearing each other.
Now for our next visit, we had to see what they hype is all about with their brunch on the weekends. We were advised to get there early (it opens at 11am) and get in line. We got there around 10:45am and were the third party in line, but as the top of the hour neared the line grew around the entire perimeter of the courtyard. Glad we got there early.
The best part about the brunch, obviously, is the bottomless mimosas and bloody mary’s. Just like the brunch at Blue Moon Fish Co. in Lauderdale by the Sea. For a modest price, drink all you want! They bring you a chilled bucket with champagne to serve yourself and will keep bringing you another bottle and more orange juice for as long as you’re wanting.
It’s safe to say that we got our money’s worth on the bottomless drinks, we lost count after a while. As luck would have it, a group of friends also showed up right after us so we soon combined our parties and the drinks kept pouring. A great time was had!
As for the brunch itself, I got the caramel banana french toast which was amazing and just the right size. I was tempted to get the white chocolate strawberry pancakes (reminds me of Mitch’s Westside Bagels in Weston!)but was warned by the waitress that she has never seen anybody finish their plate. After seeing another waitress walk by with a plate of it, I can see why! Maybe next time when I’m hungrier I’ll give it a try. They looked delicious. My date got the smashed avocado taste and enjoyed her meal as well.
We’re already planning on going back this coming weekend (as of the time of this writing) for another visit! We have a pool party for Labor Day Weekend planned in the afternoon, so we figure why not get a little base in the morning before we party more later. It’s becoming our new favorite spot – can’t wait!
