Mexican Restaurants in Weston Florida

I’ve spent a lot of time in the Weston area and have the local food scene down to a science!  While venues update and ownership changes hands, especially in the challenging economic climate we’ve seen in 2022 and post-pandemic, things do change, so as always, I appreciate any comments on this article should things change, or venues open or close!

What are the Best Places for Mexican Food in Weston, Florida?

I hate to be a “Debbie Downer,” but Weston isn’t the best place to eat Mexican food.  In fact, pretty much every surrounding town has better options for Mexican food. (Stay tuned for an update on where I like to eat in surrounding cities.)

While you’ll find a great number of Italian restaurants in Weston, the list of restaurants that serve anything close to Mexican fare is rather slim.  However, I wouldn’t be a good guide if I didn’t offer up my list of the best places for Mexican cuisine in Weston, so here we go!

I Love Tacos

I love Tacos has been around for a while, and it offers up Mexican food as well as beer and wine.  The establishment is run by Venezuelans, however.  It’s not a traditional “authentic” experience, but it’s arguably the best Weston has at the moment.

Chipotle

You know your list of Mexican restaurants is poor when Chipotle is on it.  Chipotle is fast food, and more of Americanized Mexican food than anything else.  But, it’s here, and it’s uber popular, especially among the high school kids.

La Rural Mexican in Town Center

Another odd one, La Rural has been around in Weston for many years, with it’s steakhouse and meat market on Weston Road.  However, in 2021, they opened La Rural Mexican, which serves an almost identical menu to Chipotle, but with fresher ingredients and more toppings for your bowl or burrito.  The reason many people are choosing La Rural vs. Chipotle is that the steak is the same cuts that they use in their steak house, which is a fantastic steak.  La Rural opened up in Town Center before Carrot Express, and they are the newest food vendors in the busy Town Center Shops.

Taco Bell

If you like making a run for the border, you can breathe easy knowing that good old Taco Bell Weston location will have your back!  It’s right off of Weston Road and open late at night, so if your a fan of the Bell like I am, you are in luck!

Sadly, that’s the end of our list of Mexican restaurants in Weston.  However, there are many that have passed through here that are no longer around.

Mexican Restaurants that Closed in Weston, Florida

Santa Catrina

This was the best thing that ever happened to Weston, but sadly, the pandemic took it out.  Formerly located in the corner of the plaza housing the movie theater, Santa Catrina had the best authentic Mexican food around, as well as a very decorative, vibrant setting.  It’s a shame it was a casualty of covid, because not only was the food amazing, but the staff was on point as well.  I really miss this place.

El Mariachi

This was located where Baires Grille is located, and while it wasn’t amazing food, it worked.  Plus, the spacious setting was appointed nicely and it had a great happy hour.

Hopefully, we’ll get the chance to see new establishments open up and serve Mexican food in the area.  However, at the moment, there are many better options in surrounding cities. Stay tuned for more information and reviews on those in upcoming blogs.
