If you really want to get down with South Beach locals who have a nose for the good life, there are few places better than I can recommend for fine dining or top shelf drinks than Smith & Wollensky Miami. The Miami Beach location is a locals favorite and a spot most tourists don’t know about, but will come across after making their way through South Point Park. One of the best pieces of real estate in South Beach, this property sits along the Government Cut, which channels Biscayne Bay to the ocean and offers views of Fisher Island. The outdoor patio and waterfront seating offers viewing ranging from toned and buff men and women jogging, walking, and biking along the boardwalk, to the fancy yachts and cruise ships that routinely pass by, this is the place to see, and be seen.
This location has been open since 1997, and it’s thrived since it opened it’s doors.
Drinking & Dining at Smith & Wollensky South Beach
When you talk about the ambiance and atmosphere, it’s the typical wealthy people South Beach class: power brokers, athletes, celebrities, socialites, and everyone who enjoys being in their graces. Of course, the indoors setting is more of a white glove setting with top notch service, and you will see an older crowd on the earlier side of the dinner bell making the rounds and feasting on one of the best menu’s in the area.
The Smith & Wollensky menu is famous for their steaks, whether you are into the filet mignon, a sirloin, or the top secret Tomahawk steak. These are all offered with all the side fixin’s your heart could desire, from bleu cheese crumbles, to a spicy rub, a coffee rub, or even oscar style. Don’t sleep on their seafood menu, however. Starting with crab cakes, a seafood tower, fresh oysters, or their famous shrimp is highly recommended.
Outdoor Bar at Smith & Wollensky Miami
I recommend the outdoor bar if you are hanging out socially or having appetizers or light fare. The views and scenery are amazing, the service is friendly, and the drinks as good as you could ever expect.
Dining Room at Smith & Wollensky Miami
The indoors is more for a family style or business setting. The dimly lit interior is upscale and also features a full bar area offering seating if the weather doesn’t permit outdoor enjoyment. It’s also the perfect place to have a drink prior to your meal if you arrive early.
